Feeling Confident with #NoMakeup

Everyone has some insecurities that they try to cover up, it doesn’t matter if it is with make-up, clothing or working out. Today, we are going to talk about the ones we cover with make-up, those little details that make you feel a bit less confident than you should. This is for the days when you don’t feel like wearing makeup but still don’t want those details to show and to help you glow with each step you take in your everyday life.

Importance of Night Routine

Removing all the impurities is a key routine to have a glowing skin. After a long day, your face is full of makeup, sunscreen, environmental pollutants, sweat or dirt. Cleaning helps you to remove all of these impurities from your face to avoid them staying in your skin for the night causing acne. Pollution does not only clog your pores but it penetrates the skin and can accelerate ageing, cause pigmentation, wrinkles and rashes.

Based on research done by Dr. Uliana Gout, ‘Double Cleansing’ is the best way to get rid of all of these impurities which allows for better absorbance of the ingredients of the other products. Double cleansing is first washing your face with an oil-based cleanser followed by a second wash with the water-based cleanser. However, do not over cleanse your face as it can develop into skin dryness and sensitivity.

Skin Hydration

After cleansing your face there is nothing better than hydrating it to help the skin cells renew and hydrate. This will help to rejuvenate the skin, increase its elasticity and retain their natural humidity. Please make sure that the moisturiser is of good quality in order to avoid any further damage to the skin.

Your moisturiser should be mostly natural ingredients and you should avoid ingredients like alcohol that dry the skin. An example of an ingredient that has multiple moisturising qualities is olive oil, this is because it contains vitamins A,D,K and E which helps rejuvenate skin and squalene which helps with the antioxidant properties. Using a moisturiser when going to sleep will help you to wake up with a nourish skin as it has enough time to act on your skin.

Eyebags

There are multiple ways to get rid of eyebags, this section is going to discuss the most common and effective ways. Always keep in mind that the best and most effective technique is to get enough sleep, nevertheless we are aware that this is not always possible so here are some alternatives. Firstly, use a cold compress; this will help you to constrict the blood vessels making them smaller and decrease the puffiness in the face area. There are products such as eye masks especially for this purpose, however ice surrounded by a washcloth should work. Secondly, eye creams containing vitamin K can produce a stimulation in the blood flow and decrease the leaky blood vessels. Thirdly, tea bags containing caffeine can achieve a similar result, dilating the blood vessels to circulate the blood under the eyes. Furthermore, it contains antioxidants which helps with anti-inflammatory benefits (mostly if it is Green Tea).

Skin Redness

Skin redness can be due to multiple issues, from sunburn, lifestyle or the skin products you are using to alcohol, acne and dryness. The first step would be to do a quick visit to a dermatologist to rule out any further causes.

If you have skin redness, please be careful when you wash or cleanse your face and avoid harsh scrubbing as this can affect it. Before taking action make sure that the makeup products or any other products such as the cleansing and moisturising products are made from ingredients that are not damaging to your skin.

Good quality products help to decrease skin redness improving microcirculation in the face which helps to create immediate relief and has shown to improve the superficial skin layer, which can be the part affected by the redness (e.g. rash, sunburn or acne).

Eyebrows

Eyebrows are the frame to your face so you should learn how to frame it correctly, not paying attention to them or having the wrong frame can completely change your face. Depending on the shape of your face you should learn the shape of eyebrows that best fit it. I would recommend you seek advice by a professional or just try drawing different ones on yourself.

Hair Health

Hair is a very important part of you, it is one of the first few things people see about you. Looking after it will show people that you care about your appearance and will help them form their first impression. To keep it in a good state you should wash it with chemical free products that nourish and moisturise your hair. Find a treatment specific for your hair, whether you have dyed it or not to make sure that the treatment is as effective as possible and that fortifies it from the roots to the ends. Some of the worst ingredients for your hair and that you should avoid are: parabens, sulphates, formaldehyde, phthalates and silicone. These are harmful preservatives and detergents that can be affecting your hair. And some of the best ingredients are; coconut oil, olive oil, healthy fats, protein and biotin.

Healthy Eating Effects

How you eat and the food that you put into your body is one of the most important things you should take care of. The vitamins, fats, protein and carbohydrates that you chose make the difference on what your face and hair look like. It can improve or worsen your skin as well as the health of your hair. Please if you think that this might be what is affecting your skin/hair visit a nutritionist to get the right diet for your body.
